Sleep has always been challenging for me because I'm a naturally anxious person, so winding down correctly at the end of a long, hard day is a major deal for me. I hope these tips will help you as much as they've helped me.
Tea & late-night munchies
I often like to have something light to eat before bed like some biscuits or a cookie, and of course that’s not always the healthy choice, but it’s always better than struggling to fight-off an empty stomach and struggling to sleep. I absolutely love Green Tea or Peppermint Tea because they give me a very clean, cozy feeling. Plus, it also helps that they’re known to improve my immune system. Candles
Candles that especially have summery, powder-like scents like cliffside-blossoms or lavender always clear my head and puts me in complete zen-mode before snoozing off. However, different scents work differently on different people so definitely try and pick out scents that makes YOU feel 100% relaxed and comfortable. Of course, make sure to blow it out your candles before you fall asleep. Fairy-lights/warm-lights
Since I am a very visual person and is extra sensitive to the environment around, I have always found white florescent lights to be very jarring. So, having warm fairy-lights or lamps definitely can help me tone down during very anxious and overwhelming days. Almost like a spa-like effect you could say. Feel-good movies/tv-shows
My top go-to feel good movies would include Letters to Juliet, Breakfast at Tiffany's, any of the Harry Potter films, Love Rosie, Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants, and Angus, Thongs, and Perfect Snogging (my all time favorite <3). I would recommend any films that remind you of your youth/childhood and the fact that you know how the story will end (haha, always helps) can definitely keep you relaxed. YouTube Blogs/Vlogs
Watching YouTube blogs and vlogs always give me a warm, cozy feeling. Pointless Blog, Zoella, and Megan Ellaby are my favorite bloggers to unwind to after a long, hard day. Their vlogs have a strong and familiar family vibe and their blogs are always positive without being too in-my-face about it. |
