Once again, it’s almost the end of January and I am suffering from the travel bug. I remembered this time last year, I was in the UK for my study abroad semester and it’s bringing back all sorts of nostalgic memories. I haven’t quite decided where I will heading to next, but I am definitely hoping that I’ll be able to travel locally around Myanmar within these next couple of months. There are a ton of places that I still haven’t been to in my beautiful home country and would love to explore as much as possible before “adulting” takes over my life again. So far, my entire life, I have been to seven countries and would love to travel more. I have, so far, been to Cambodia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, United States, and the United Kingdom. All of these place have been amazing from the culture to its people and I feel so lucky to have experienced it from such a young age.
Travel has taught me so much about myself; what I like and don’t like, how I approach people, how I deal with times of distress, and most importantly what kind of people I like to travel with. Without sounding like a some kind of spiritual guru, travel has truly open my mind and made me believe that anything and all things is impossible. Each place has its own beliefs and system of how life functions and there’s no right or wrong way of doing it. The people I’ve met, whether it be intentionally or strangers brushing shoulders on the underground, you all have a special place in my heart for I’ve come to realize that human connections are essential and quite divine.
I truly believe that life is not meant to be lived in one place and that home is never a place, it’s the people and memories that build it. To the future me…here’s to more adventures and self-discoveries.
